Here is a first return of reading of my book translated into English, received on Sunday March 31, 2019 (voici un premier retour de lecture de mon livre traduit en anglais reçu le dimanche 31 mars 2019)
"Hello!
My husband and I are spending out honeymoon in your beautiful Island. I bought your book ”Shark Attacks a modern tragedy. Reunion Island’s Story”. I loved your book and can understand all the misinformation from media and government officials who prefer to look elsewhere when such important and urgent issue is taking place. We feel terrible not being able to enjoy the waves, as they seem to be calling for people to enjoy them. It is here that I’ve really felt like learning to surf at my age (36!).But it’s heartbreaking to not be able to.
I can’t imagine what it’s like for those of you who have grown up here enjoying them. I just want to say that if there’s anything I can do to support you in your cause of preventing shark attacks, I would love to do it.
Thank you for writing such a good book.
(following messages) I read it in a couple of days. There isn’t so much to do at the beach... if you know what I mean... so it was really interesting to read your book and understand why there are so many sharks out there. (Thank you SO much for translating it!)
We live in Berlin and coming to such a context, we thought: “Why don’t they just put nets? It seems like the easiest solution”. So your book took me out of my ignorance to understand the social, cultural and other contexts.
Best regards!
